Surfer At ʻAnaehoʻomalu

Description

ʻAnaehoʻomalu was the site of an ancient Hawaiian fishing village on the Big Island. There are still two fishponds, named Ku’uali’i and Kahapapa along the shore. Today, the area is punctuated by the architecture of the surrounding modern hotels. The remaining ancient sluices and fishponds connect the place to its ancient history, evoking a sense of the people that came before us, a sense of time passing, and of time holding still.
